Sing for Hope pianos: the map, the 2026 season, and where to play one now
Sing for Hope’s 2026 New York season ran from May 18 to June 7, with 25 artist-designed pianos in parks and public spaces across all five boroughs (per Sing for Hope’s 2026 NYC page, October 2026). Those street pianos are now off the streets until the next season. The official map at singforhope.org/pianos still lists a handful of year-round Sing for Hope pianos, including one at Westfield World Trade Center.
PianoSpot is an independent app and has no connection to Sing for Hope. This page summarises what Sing for Hope publishes so you can find its pianos.
What Sing for Hope Pianos are
Sing for Hope is a New York nonprofit founded in response to the events of 9/11, and 2026 marked its 25th anniversary. Its best-known program puts pianos painted by artists into parks and plazas for a few weeks, free for anyone to play. After their time outdoors, each piano is permanently placed at a partner school, hospital or community center, according to Sing for Hope’s 2026 press release. Sing for Hope says it has created more than 700 of these pianos.
That second life is the point of the program, and it is also why you can’t find most of them on the street outside the season: they are in classrooms and hospital lobbies, not on the map.

How to use the official Sing for Hope map
- Open singforhope.org/pianos. Sing for Hope’s own FAQ points people there for its interactive map of piano locations.
- Check the dates first. The site mixes current and archived activations, so confirm the piano you like is in a season that is running now.
- Read the piano’s page. Each one names the artist and the site, and some list playing hours.
- Plan around the weather. An outdoor piano in the rain is rarely playable, so on a wet afternoon pick one of the indoor pianos instead.
When the painted pianos are gone
New York has public pianos beyond the Sing for Hope season, in stations, malls, hotel lobbies and community spaces. PianoSpot’s map shows the ones players have added, with a Great, Fair or Needs work label and recent reviews, and you can filter for Indoor or Open 24/7 so you don’t end up at a locked door. If you come across a piano that isn’t on the map, add it: a pin, a name and a photo is all it takes. You can also browse pianos by country on the web, or read how to tell whether a public piano is still there before you go.
And when the next season starts, the painted pianos are worth seeking out. Sing for Hope asks players not to monopolise a piano when others are waiting, and to tag photos with #singforhopepianos.
